three years of good

‘three years of good’ is an audio visual installation that works on the basis of life and death. It is a personal reaction to losing my mum in August 2015.
It is a reflection on a time spent with my mum after my dad died. During this time my mum became something other than just a mother. She experienced something of an awakening, whereby she gained clarity in her later life and became free of her labels as just a wife and a mother.
Experiments with sound
Test sound clips were made using scans from my mum’s post mortem inquest and converted into synthesised sounds and will be used to develop the soundscape for this immersive experience. Essentially what you are hearing is the sound of my mum dying.
The finished piece will last for 7.5 minutes, which is a basic equation of my mum’s 75 years on Earth and this will dictate the length of the installation.
